Mancat Monday - Mancat in Jail

Oh! No! Wizard got himself put in jail!!

Sometimes Wizard gets carried away when he fights with Nick. For some reason, dominance perhaps, Wizard will turn a play session into a nasty pursue and attack session that he will not back down from. It only happens with Nick. We usually have to squirt him with water to get him to disengage, but he'll continue to pursue and attack Nick. Ultimately only a "time-out" settles him down and changes his behavior. It happens maybe once or twice a month and always lands Wizard in jail!

Lucky for Wizard, jail has many amenities and only lasts 10 or 15 minutes. Five minutes after I took this picture, Wizard started goofing off, turning upside down, making coo-meowing sounds and sticking his paws outside the bars.

It worked. I let him out early for good behavior :).

  1. Awww, Wizard, you need to be good and not attack Nick. I can see why it works to have a time out jail at your house. Mom only has the two of us, and sometimes thinks an enclosure would help with Audrey, because she doesn't like to let the humans sleep all night. But she thinks Audrey would rattle the bars.

  2. Wizard, we're glad your time in jail was short lived. Let's hope you don't hafta go in there again anytime soon!

  3. this is really cute -- silly Wizardboy! We get pretty rough and wild too. Mom has to intervene -- and sometimes is take a few trys to snap us out of it. It is definiately a bossy dominance thing. I am the boss and for some annoying reason Miles does not care!!! that drives me nuts.

bonks and have a peaceful day

  5. MOL - this reminded mom of a couple of cats at Best Friends...one has to have a time out when volunteers are in the room since he has a minor bitey problem.... oh well - at least jail has food!!

  6. Wizard, your time-outs are pretty easy! Nicki used to get shut up in a spare room for longer than that, once even for a couple of hours, the mom was so mad. He thought it was all great fun, of course (and of course it was related to Annie, when she was still with us).

Those time-outs were really for our mom, so SHE could cool down. LOL.

Let's hope you stay out of "jail" for a while now, though!

  7. Hmmmm... Thinking deeply on the subject, could we say that it is quite manly to do a little jail time? But please do keep it to a strict minimum, Wizard!

  8. With kids and cats, it's consistency that counts, and it sounds like you've got that down pat!

It must be so cute to see Wizard trying to reach you through the bars -- I wouldn't resist letting him out either!

  10. Wizard, you are a naughty guy! And here we thought Snafu was the bad boy...Mommy puts us in the Little Out and blocks the cat flap when one of us needs a time out. It's cruel and unusual punishment, no matter that we go out there a hundred squillion times a day anyway.

  11. OMC I loved this post! This reminded me of when my Angel Bobo was alive and I used to have to give him "time outs" lol. Everyone used to make fun of me but, they worked!!! This was just great!

  12. What a fine way to calm down Wizard when he gets the cat crazies! We know from past experience that trying to correct behaviour at those times is a lost cause.
You really are a very special, kind person, Lisa and we admire you for the way you care for your fur family.

  14. The mom speaks: Milo got boisterous with Alfie sometimes ~ and I do the same things to sort it out. I start with the water squirt and when that fails put Milo in "time out". He never has to be in "time out" for more than 10 minutes ~ as he knows he's done wrong!
Alfie of course is a little love ~ he never picks an arguement.
