Non-Kitty Post - Other Blogs

I have rarely done a non-kitty post, but I had nothing planned for today. So, I thought I'd take a second of your (or your human's) time to ask about human blogs. Does your human have another blog they post about other interests (what do you mean they don't have any other interests except you)? I have just started one called "After Boom" and I'd love for your human to stop by to check it out.

Tell your human to comment below about their own personal blog with a link so I can check their blog out and if we like, we can follow each other!

Anyway, that's all for now. Come back tomorrow to see some more kitties!

In The Zone

Sometimes when Snafu's unruly behavior towards the other cats gets to be too much, I pick him up out of the fray, put him down on his cat bed, pet him with one or two long strokes to set his motor going.

If I'm lucky, he goes into....

The Zone!

If you have trouble viewing watch here on YouTube

You can tell, he wants little to do with me when he is in The Zone.
Then he'll fold down into his nice fluffy bed and go to sleep!

Mancat Monday and Giveaway Winner!

First, we want to thank the folks at Taste of the Wild
for a chance to try their new food and blog about it.

If you didn't catch our review, check out the post here.

Second, we want to thank Taste of the Wild for
sponsoring the giveaway prize package drawing.
We put all the entrants names on little pieces of paper,
crumpled them up in balls and tossed them into a hat
(actually it was a dog bowl) and DP picked out one name:

AND THE WINNER IS......

Congratulations!!

Please give me a shout via the email address at the top our blog!

And now for our Monday Mancat:

This is what puts the "Brown" in Brown Tabby!
(no need to biggify his picture! His belleh is big enough!)

A Diet

There has been a big change around here!

We used to free feed kibble and
give canned wet food as a treat now and then.

But then it all changed.
[da, da, da, dummm]

Wizard is wondering what all the feeders are doing out here in the kitchen...empty!?

We took away all the feeders...

and ignored all the protests and unhappy stares....

And why did we do this...?

Some kitties didn't know when enough was enough!

Yukon gained 3 whole pounds in one year!
He weighed in a 17 pounds and even though we know a lot of kitties who weigh more than that,
Yukon is a very compact guy and couldn't hold all that weight. Plus there was no sign of him stopping.
Plus, plus Owen was heading in the same direction.

So now we feed kibble two or three times a day and wet food once every day.

Here is everyone (and I mean all eight of them)
waiting for me to come through the door with bowls of stinky goodness!

Nom, nom, nom, nom!

Of course we also feed them Taste of the Wild, Canyon River Feline as part of their daily kibble. Did you catch our review post of Taste of the Wild? They are offering a giveaway prize package and all you need to do is comment on the post and say you want a chance at the prize! The contest closes today at Midnight EST.

Paw Circles

You've heard of Crop Circles?

Here are Paw Circles:

Very mysterious...
it's like they landed from out of nowhere
made this pattern and then vanished...hmmm.

We are Wild!

We are wild

for Taste of the Wild, that is!

They have a new flavor called Canyon River Feline made with Salmon and Trout.

This is a special "grain-free" brand of kibble.

And they make wet food with gravy too!

The folks at Taste of the Wild asked Cat of Nine Tales to try their new flavor with our crew and review it on our blog.

Snafu is just salivating at the chance to try it out!

He just can't wait for me to open these sample packages!

We mixed it in with their normal kibble to minimize digestive upset and almost everyone loved it.
Canyon River Feline is the darkest kibble in their bowls.

Guess who was picking out only the dark ones???
Snafu! He really loves it!

When I asked two of my local pet supply store workers what they thought of Taste of the Wild, I was surprised that they both said they fed their cats this brand!

Yes, this was a hit at our home and since the cost was comparable to what we buy now, we plan to make the switch.
There will be a lot of food changes going on around here, but we'll post about that later.

The fun folks at Taste of the Wild are giving away a prize package to one lucky commenter (US residents only - sorry)!!!

The package includes the Turbo Scratcher, 3 Sample packets of Canyon River Feline and a gift certificate to Harlo's Healthy Pets!

Please leave a comment saying you want to be included in the random drawing for the prize package. I'll leave this open until Friday and announce the randomly chosen winner on Monday!!

Good luck and thanks for stopping by!

Friday Night Fights: The Boof Boys Rematch!

Welcome Back to Friday Night Fights!

Tonight:

THE BIG BOOF BOYS REMATCH!

The Zen Master (Yukon) vs Puff (Angus)

Last season ended with our Champion, The Zen Master looking forward to some time off, and Puff contemplating a more spiritual life.
(see here to review their last match)

Well, they are back for a rematch!!!

They begin by circling and sizing each other up

What’s this?

Illegal touching?!

Not cool, Zen Master…

Oh! But that was just a ploy…

Boof!

The Zen Master makes his take down move

The Zen Master offers to help Puff to his feet…

Bam!

Another ploy and another take down by the Zen Master!

Crunch!

It’s intense “head gripping” action here tonight folks!

Puff finds an opening and makes a break for it…

But the Zen Master is in hot pursuit…

and…

WUMPH!

There is no way for Puff to escape that massiveness.

 That’s the match!
The Zen Master is truly a master of his craft and remains the Champion to beat!

And now a word from our sponsor…

Snafu wants to know:
Have you tried Taste of the Wild, Canyon River Feline?
It’s grain-free and made from trout and salmon!

Please join us on Monday when we rip into these bags and give it a try!!

We’ll be giving away a free prize package that includes Canyon River Feline samples, a gift certificate and a toy for one lucky winner!

A final word - back to our athletes...

They are true good sports and remain close friends!

Thanks for joining us for Friday Night Fights!

Please do come back on Monday for our review of Taste of the Wild's Canyon River Feline
 and register for our Giveaway!

Mancat Monday with Nick

From the top of the cat tree,
Nick does a Monday morning hangover to say
a big hello to all on Mancat Monday!

My thanks to everyone who offered advice about Penny's eye from my Friday Post.
All the kitties got their first dose of L-lysine Sunday night!

Penny's Dilemna

Penny's Eyes

Penny had a very bad upper respiratory infection during the holidays. She got through it fine and is back to her old high jumping, twisty self except for her right eye. She has continued to have a reddish tear drip staining just that one corner. The vet's office thinks it is the herpes virus that kitties get and prescribed Terramycin Opthalmic Ointment 3 times a day for 7 days. Well after 3 days it only seemed to make her eye worse with reddening around the rim and causing excessive watery glassiness. But no improvement at all.

Penny with stained eye

This is what Penny should look like!

To be honest, I think a few of the boys have the same issue, but because Penny is so white, it is so much more noticeable.
Have any of you had this issue? Can you offer any advice?
We'd appreciate your feedback!
