Return to Blogging!!

Hello Everyone!  We are Returning to our Blog!

It’s been a long (ahem) summer (feels closer to 3 years), and a lot has gone on with us. We always knew we’d return to blogging some day, but the time was never right. Thanks to Ann of Zoolatry’s emails and our friends on Facebook, we've kept current with most of the CB’s happenings, some of which are heartbreaking.

As far as our happenings, here they are in a nutshell:

-I worked and worked and worked until I got laid-off last year (which wasn’t a bad thing).

-Yukon had 4 urinary blockages and ultimately PU Surgery [perineal urethrostomy]. It was a scary time, but now he is doing great!

-We bought a house and moved (not too far from where we were).

-We lost our eldest boy BJ to abdominal cancer.

-We lost our German Shepherd Stanze to liver cancer.

-We got married

-We got Howard, a Newfie/Aussie mix with a wonderfully calm temperament. This was greatly needed in our tightly wound terrier – shepherd household.

We are so happy to be sharing our pet’s lives with you all again and look forward to making new friends! Another post with more pictures will follow soon!

Thanks for stopping by!

Storytime - Can

Last Friday was three months since Moseley went to the Rainbow Bridge. Before he left, the first thing I did when I came home from work was go check on him in his room, clean up any pee or throw ups, give him some scritches, a pill and then his dinner. He was the only kitty on soft canned food and Penny really enjoyed licking up the leftover gravy from the sides of his empty can in the evenings. She had a certain expectation.

Since Moseley’s been gone, I still feel that pull that there is something very important to do right when I come home from work, before I can relax or make some dinner (or blog). Penny has taken advantage of that and so I oblige her at least once a week by giving her and everyone a spot of canned food treat.

Here she is, ever vigilant following me around the house as soon as I get home. I try to do some chores with my camera in hand.
She is telling me, “stop taking pictures of cats and give me some canned food please!”

As I go into the bedroom, Penny follows me, but Snafu has come up from behind....he knows treats are involved. Penny won’t let him get any closer to me.

He’ll just stop where he is and wait.

If he tried to move passed her, fur would fly…mostly gray.

Alright, Mama Lisa is up and heading in the right direction! Penny jumps in front to make sure I am shown the way.

This is it. This is where I should stop. Snafu wasn’t far behind.

This is the cabinet (behind the feeders) in the Cat Bathroom that has what we’re looking for.

Ooooooo....Can…..
See Penny’s paws gripping both sides of it?

We have many followers now.

Outside the Cat Bathroom, one follower didn’t mess with jumping over the gate.

Two others aren’t allowed over the gate.

I’m ready.

Nom, nom! Musical bowls begins. Wizard's in the lead. He's finished his bowl first and is on the prowl for more.
(Isn't Stanze a good girl? "Not for dogs" we tell them.)

The Zen Master easily gives up his food to anyone.
This time it's Snafu.

Penny also gets to have the can after everyone is done.

Later that evening...

“Stop blogging and lets go to bed please!”

Friday Night Fights - The Big Boof Boys Battle of Champions

Welcome to Friday Night Fights!

The Big Boof Boys Battle of Champions!

The Zen Master (Yukon) vs Puff (Angus)

These two guys have won a bunch of battles to get to where they are now!
Tonight’s the night to see who will be the Friday Night Fights' Champion.

They begin their match with the traditional mutual grooming. Both lying on the mat.

This ends quickly, revealing The Zen Master’s intensity.

Puff is immediately locked into place by The Zen Master’s yogic energy and massive bulk.

A bitey is hardly necessary TZM! But at least Puff has been awakened by pain and forced into action.

Look at the intensity of that hold! Puff’s half hearted bunny kick will get him no where!

That’s it! Puff is up and walking off the mat.

He’s all done!

All The Zen Master can do is watch Puff walk away.

And now a word from our sponsor….

Wizard says, "I know lots of Woofies who have graduated from Petco's Dog Training School.
But I'm a cat and don't need training because I was born brilliant.
I still love Petco because I can get Greenies there and I love Greenies. They're nom, nom, good!"

And there you have it folks! The Champion of Friday Night Fights!
The Zen Master!

Talking to Co9T reporters later in the locker room, The Zen Master said that speed and patience were the keys to winning each match and ultimately the Championship.

He said his training involved long meditations along with massive daily doses of kibble.

When Co9T reporters asked Puff what happened, he said he zoned out, feeling One with the Universe and an inner sense of peace. When he came to, he said he remembers thinking, I don’t want to fight anymore, and so he got up and walked away.

Puff said he now plans to take the spring and summer off and look into going to a Retreat.

The Zen Master also said now that the fighting season is over, he plans to spend time with his girl before beginning the rigorous training schedule all over again.

And that is our season of Friday Night Fights!
We wish to thank everyone for making this possible, the fighters, the staff including DP who shared photography duties, our sponsors and especially you, our loyal fans!

We hope you’ll all be back for the next season of Friday Night Fights!

Triangle Tuesday - A Cat, His Dog and Her Cat

This is Yukon laying with Stanze in her crate. This is a complicated triangle.

You see, Yukon is very fond of Stanze, and she just (kind heartedly) tolerlates him. As demonstrated above, Yukon is barely touching her because she won't allow it....generally.

Here's a delightful exception caught on video:

The problem is - Stanze is a little bit obsessed with BJ...

And thus makes the triangle...
