The rules to this award are to write seven beautiful things about yourself and then pass it on to seven others. Jack of All Shades and Shadows suggested that we do one thing for each cat and so that's what we're going to do.
Here are our beautiful things...
In this youthful picture of Angus you can really see his "pocket" on his back leg.
BJ was an indoor/outdoor kitty who was converted to indoor only.
Nick has sensitive eyes and is so hard to photograph because he always closes his eyes when the camera comes towards him, even when it doesn't flash.
Owen loves to be petted backwards.
Penny has a heart tatoo from when she got spayed. The vet tech agreed to put a little heart along with her gender sign near her spay scar.
Snafu's eyes went from kitten blue to gray before they turned green. I thought for sure he'd keep his gray eyes.
Wizard is a roll-on-the-floor begger for cheese.
Yukon loves to sink his teeth into banana rinds.
There you have it! Now, the three blogs out of all our beautiful blogging friends that we wish to pass this onto are:
Cat of Nine Tales is honored to have been the recipient of awards from blogging pals new and old!
Most recently we received The Hello Award, first by Jacquelines Cat House back on February 19th, but we must have been lost in space because we missed it. Thanks for reminding me, Jacqueline! Then just on Friday, Nolls Nip gave us the award, too. Thank you so very much, you guys (that's Northern talk for ya'll)!! We're happy to meet you and become new blogging friends!
The rules say to pass this award on to two blogs we've never visited before. I thought that would be fun and so I went straight to the Cat Blogosphere website for a perusal of the Mr. Linky list. We quickly found this wonderful blog new to us:
Tristan and Crikey at the Beach. Tristan is a Senior Dilute Torbie girl and Crikey is a silver and white Tuxie who is one big Mancat! Although not new to a lot of my blogging friends, I found not only some wonderful blog entries, but I learned they are also Charter Members of the Naughty Kitty Club. We’re everywhere!
My next new blog is Four Crazy Cats with Devon, Tanner and Smokey, along with memories of MoJo. A woman who goes by the name SuziQCat has visited and commented on Cat of Nine Tales blog several times and I thought it was high time I went over for a visit. My hat is off to any wondeful human who chooses to foster kitties (and doggies). We used to enjoy the rewarding life as foster parents, but our household overfloweth with 12 right now and the help (that would be me) had to finally go out and get a real job. SuziQCat has some great tales to tell of her own clan as well as her latest fosters.
If you haven't already, check these bloggers out!
We were also blessed to receive another award on Friday from Monty Graycat who gave us The Sunshine Award! Thank you so much!! I just love the colors!
While this award requests that you pass it along to 12 other blogs that give sunshine to your day, Cat of Nine Tales loves all our blogging friends and all of you give us sunshine everyday! And you know how we (like Snafu) break the rules often, so we'll pass this award along to 3 of our Sunshiney blog friends, and they are:
After I tell you about my A-ward, I've got a great Re-ward for you!
Our awesome friends The Kool Kitty Krew and Butterbean awarded us this Sweet Friends award last week. We are so grateful to be chosen twice. Thank you very much! Thank you very much!
The rules for this award are:
1. Copy and paste award to your page.
2. List 10 things that make you happy and try to do one today.
3. Tag 10 bloggers who brighten your day.
Well that's easy, so here are my 10 things that make me happy:
1. Owen
2. Snafu
3. Yukon
4. Angus
5. Penny
6. Nick
7. Wizard
8. BJ
9. Our Canine Crew (Cooper, Buzz, Stanze and Rex)
10. and You!
Now the 10 bloggers we're going to pass this on to...
Well since I'm posting this a week late, I'm thinking by now everyone has been given this award, but if you haven't, and your reading this....PING! You are now awarded The Sweet Friends Award! Yay! Congratulations!
And now, if you've read this award post this far, you will be RE-warded with this:
Someone is very happy with his new human.
This is T-Rex (we just call him Rex) looking up at DP during a recent snowshoe outing. She takes the dogs out snowshoeing nearly every day and sometimes twice if the weather is good.
If you must have a kitty fix, then your RE-ward is this:
First, Cat of Nine Tales is proud to announce....We got it!
TWICE!
Thank you so much to our blogging friends The Island Cats and The Paw Relations for honoring us with this award! I sure do love to scribble (write)!
The Superior Scribbler Award was started by The Scholastic Scribe to celebrate their 200th post (2 years ago). To read more about the Superior Scribbler Award click HERE.
As with every award, there’re some rules that need to be followed:
1. Each Superior Scribbler (SS) must pass the Award on to 5 deserving blogger friends (you know us, we only ever do three).
2. Each SS must link the author and name of the blog from whom he/she received the award.
3. Each SS must display the award on his/her blog and link to the post which explains the award.
4. Each SS is asked to visit the post which explains the award and add his/her name to the Mr. Linky List (I just made a comment - there were over 500 of them).
5. Each SS must post these rules on his/her blog.
Cat of Nine Tales is happy to pass this award on to the following blogging friends:
This is little Miss Penny acting all big sisterish for her foster sister, Me-Me. Her meow was a big wide scream and she would say ME, ME, ME all the time. Penny was patient with her.
With that little black bow in her "blond hair," I thought she looked like Rose-Marie from the Dick Van Dyke show and the old Hollywood Squares. DP found Me-Me a wonderful home in New Hampshire on a farm with another calico. They are great sisters too.
We wish to thank our special friend Fin at Housecat Confidential who awarded us with the Kreativ Blogger Award last Sunday. Thank you!
Along with this groovy picture I get to paste on my blog for all eternity, I am supposed to tell you something you didn’t know about any of our kitties. This was particularly hard because I did want to use as many pictures as I could, though not all things have pictures. I chose two cats (even though I think I was supposed to pick three). The lucky kitties are Owen and Penny.
So here goes:
Owen Owen likes to watch TV...when it isn't on. Every once in a while, something on the shiny surface captures his attention and he sits in front of it and watches. He doesn't paw at it or anything, just sits...watching. It's kind of creepy.
Despite how well Owen gets along with all the cats in the house, he decidedly picks on BJ. He'll chase him into a corner and attack him if he can. I just can't understand why such a sweet boy can be so mean to BJ. I also can't understand why BJ runs from him.
Owen does not like canned food. When everyone gets a tablespoon treat of canned food, he just waits for everyone to be done (see him in the middle of the living room floor). I do spoon him out a portion and he sniffs it, but then he just walks away. In this picture, Penny (on the right) has his treat as extra (because she is special).
In the morning, Owen waits at the bedroom door with Angus and is usually the second one in when I open it. Running in and jumping onto the bed with a chirp (Angus just follows me into the bathroom), he starts kneading immediately. In this video I'm testing out whether he knows his name.
Owen is not quick to respond to his name when called. It's a kitty thing, I know, but when we call any other cat, Owen comes running over to us chirping. I guess that's an Owen thing.
Owen does not like to be alone. When he is taking a nap and wakes up to discover all the kitties around him have gone off to different rooms, he starts meowing and meowing as he gets up and comes running into the next room in search of someone, kitty or human. When he finds one, he'll do his free-fall right up against them in expectation of some lapping (or petting) attention.
Owen loves to be brushed, but he also loves to be petted backwards. You can scratch and rub all his fur the wrong way and he just loves it! Purring the whole time.
Penny
Though I haven't been able to get a picture of it, the roof of Penny's mouth is black. It scared me the first time I saw it, but I realized, after putting Penny through a few moments of discomfort, that it was just a big round patch of black colored flesh. I always try to take another peek at it whenever she yawns.
I know I've mentioned it before so it isn't new, but Penny is our Twisty-Girl! This newest twist picture just had to be included here.
Penny can be quite silly with a ball and a few minutes of no boys around. I have about 20 pictures of her with this, but I think this one shows my point best.
Penny couldn't care less about milk or much for cheese, but she is a part of a newly formed group we call "The Tuna Club." The juice from a can of tuna is poured into the bowls, much like milk and shared with this group. She is a regular member and it's funny to see her nose sniffing and wavering in the air when we are working on a can. Yup, Owen's a member too. You can read more about another one of their clubs called the Moo Club here.
Okay, I'm not sure if this is kosher, but Penny is my favorite. I can't help it. There is just an extra something special about her and I admittedly give in to just about anything she wants. She doesn't ask for much so it's quite easy. She IS the only girl and she WAS our first kitty together. She loves to sleep with me all night...what else can I say? I dearly love every one of our kitties, but Penny is special (DP’s favorite is Snafu).
Snafu and Penny do not get along. Penny does not like him one bit...as indicated in Tuesday's post where there is the picture of her giving him a good whap. She never runs from his intimidation tactics and he always hisses at her boldness towards him. I have even noticed what I believe to be Penny protecting Angus. It is something to see and DP and I go back and forth deciding how far to let Penny go in her “disciplining” of Snafu.
Penny has been immortalized in bone. A good friend of ours is an artist (and the "dog whisperer of Maine") and created this scrimshaw piece in Penny's likeness. I think it is just awesome and wear it when I can. Sorry the picture is so poor, but I had a real hard time capturing it clearly.
1. Copy and paste the Kreativ Blogger picture onto your blog.
2. Thank the kitty who gave you the award and post a link to their blog. 3. Write 7 things about you we do not know. 4. Choose 7 other bloggers to award. 5. Link to those 7 other bloggers. 6. Notify your award winning bloggers.
As you may be able to tell, I broke the rules so do what you will as you are all so very kreativ and deserving!
Our wonderful friends at Paw Relations awarded us this Honest Scrap Award. I'm not sure how we qualified for an award of such stature, but we are grateful to have our name come up in general. So here it is: Ta-da!!!
Isn't it lovely?
Thank you Paw Relations, and also, sorry it's taken me awhile to post about it, since they gave it to me last week.
Okay, so now I'm supposed to tell you 10 interesting things about me and then pass the award on to 7 lucky others (but I'll only pick 3).
1. I love living in the wilds of Maine and plan to live even further in East No Where.
2. I left the big life to live the small life and enjoy living simply.
3. My SUV has Meow and Woof decals on it.
4. I am a left brained person who aspires to be in the middle.
5. I have no sense of fashion and rely on DP to make sure I look decent before I go out the door.
6. I hate shopping for clothes, but love shopping for groceries.
7. I am a writer who has published some stuff, but not a book yet.
8. I love eating salted pumpkin seeds.
9. I try to avoid watching television, but love National Public Radio.
10. I am a daily meditator and have been for over 25 years.
There....that actually took a couple of days, realizing I had to leave some things a mystery! Now to pass on this super lovely award to it's next victims, I mean recipients, and they are:
Glogirly Manx Mnews Pet Meadow
The chief qualifications I used to chose your blog included a recent update and you didn't already have this award...listed anyway.
Last week our friend Sassy from The Kitty Krew awarded Penny this wonderful Island Princess Award!
The crown wearing lasted all of 30 seconds before her eight brothers gave her the business about it. BOYS!
(Besides I'm not savvy enough to figure out how to do that graphic)
Penny is so tickled to get this award even though she'd never stray from the island and go into the water like her brothers Snafu and Angus (she does, however, love going out into the cat enclosure when it is raining - when I let her, that is).
After extensive research (and discussion with Penny), she has decided to pass this award on to other sisters, namely:
Perfectly Parker's sister Powder - hoping this may entice her out of her Fall Funk
Brian's Home Sister Zoe - because she's been an apprentice long enough
Cory Cat Blog's Cecilia - because, well she IS calico and we are partial
Congratulations girls!
Thank you Sassy, and girls, here's hoping you can get away with wearing your crown proudly for longer than 30 seconds!
Wow! We got awarded this beautiful "This Blog is a Dream" award/stamp! Humble thank yous to LC, Ayle and Iza of Mark's Mews for choosing us. We will post it with pride as our very first award!!!
The hard part is deciding who to pass this award on to. So many deserve it and so many have already received it. It was quite challenging, but we have decided to nominate:
