Two Cat Tuesday - Nick and BJ

Two Guard Cats

BJ and Nick are on alert for "introoders,"
which in this case would be Rocky, one of our neighbor's cats.

Rocky is an unneutered male who likes to claim our sheds as part of his territory, leaving a lovely scent behind. In defense, Nick likes to leave his lovely scent inside our house.
Lavender, it's not...

Short of keeping Nick doped up on Amitriptyline, we manage the problem okay with all the usual products. Nick has such a bright and happy personality when he's not doped up. We've missed him and are glad to have him back to his old self.

P.S. The Semi-Finals of Kitty Fight Club are going on and Snafu is up against Cookie. Check out the post on Misha's Blog and vote today!

Thanks!

  1. Oh yes, that lovely scent issue. We have been dealing with it among the girls, actually. Doesn't smell as "fine" but still an issue...

  2. Mom says she's lucky we don't leave our scent around the house!!

  3. Maybe our human is lucky she has no sense of smell. MOL. Our Nicki will back up and look like he's spraying when he's excited (getting food, treats, scritches), but nothing seems to come out. Knock on wood. Our human is glad your Nick's spraying can be managed with good cleaning products. Don't neutered males have a far less pungent odor than unneutered males, anyway?

  5. We have several here that will leave their scent in the house but it is because there are so many cats coming and going in here. I use some lemon scented cleaner to spray whereever they spray if I catch them doing it. At least that keeps them from doing it in the same place twice.
    Have a great day.

  7. Mom is very happy we only leave our scent in the litter boxes!

    We just voted for Snafu!

  8. We're rooting for Snafu!!!

Do you know if Rocky has a home? If not, can you get him to a low cost clinic for a snip? That might ease the tension and help Rocky out...

  9. We can tell they are very serious about their jobs too...Ha

  10. Very excellent guard duty! Cricket thinks she's a watch dog! Everytime someone knocks on the door and is talking loudly, outside, she starts growling and has to run to go see who it is. It's purrty funny!

  11. I am sure Nick is much happier too. What a great job of guarding!

  12. Scent issues are never fun...at least Rocky leaves his outside. Nick, you behave inside, okay? And you and BJ stay alert for introoders.

    Purrs and hugs,
    The Kitty Krew

  13. Gee, can you talk to your neighbors about Rocky? He shouldn't be walking around outside "intact". That's not good for anyone.

  14. We haven't had too much of a spraying issue with Floyd gone, but I can totally sympathize. And we don't have many wandering strays in the neighborhood but there used to be one who would come by and mark our place - that was not a popular move with our own cats at all!

  15. yes, there is nothing quite like 'that' scent, is there. Mrs H has her fingers crossed NOW as her boys don't scent in the house.... and she hopes they never will. Love Darcy and Bingley xx

  16. Introoder alert!! I had some turkeys introoding in my yard yesterday evening. I found them only mildly interesting. Mom and Dad got all excited, though.

Nick! Do you partly spray inside because of Rocky outside?

  17. Ah, Pee-mail! We have that, too. We think it has a lot to do with Spring and a young ManCat's thoughts turning lightly to Love...Hoohas or no Hoohas.

  18. Our mom just breathed a big sigh of relief 'cos we never leave scents ennywhere! She said if anycat was going to it would be Milo ~ 'cos he's a bit ... yoo know .. even though he's had the op on his wotsits. But fortunately he doesn't!!! I hope yoo know wot this all means 'cos I don't!

    love Alfie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Mom ... cud yoo translate all that please?

  19. Da Boys sometimes have that problem as well. There is a long hair orange tabby who comes around but they didn't actually start spraying a lot until Mister Kitten was found to be a boy instead of a girl!!

Star & Thomas are the worst about it although they seem to be doing better. Star particularly enjoys my husband's amps & guitar cases. Thomas enjoys my room... well, let's face it... the rest of the house too.

  22. We've seen you in action at Friday Night Fights. Rocky is quite the hero. He really lives up to his name by trying to claim your territory.

  23. WE have the same exact situation with my brofur Ping. Momma is kept buzy cleaning when we get introoder kitties....

We voted for Snafu -- good luck!

  25. Introoder cats can be a real pain!!

  26. Nick and BJ are doing a good job together...Daddy Cat will spray around the outside of our house sometimes and he occasionally does it in the garage if another cat (other than us or Mommy Cat) comes through=the last time he sprayed, it was after the stray black/white kitty hung out in the garage for about an hour, playing with their toys...We're glad Nick has his great personality back though...xo...Calle, Halle, Sukki

  27. My human says she would probably have kidnapped the intruder and had him,uh, "tutored." It does sound like he needs to learn his lesson. It's not fair that Nick and BJ have to work so hard to guard their property. Especially Nick. It sounds like it's been a strain on him.

  28. "The mancats are always sweeter outside"... LOL!

  29. Good work you two, introoders need to be kept in check. FAZ
