Snafu's Safety Zone

When searching for a house, we looked for one with at least two bedrooms, since Snafu needs his own room.

It's his safety zone and other cats are not allowed in (well, except Owen, who is the only kitty Snafu likes)!

Most mornings Snafu comes out to be with me while all the other kitties snooze in the other bedroom. 

I coax them in with cat treats, and those do not comply, get carried in. Generally they settle down pretty quickly.

Snafu share's his space with the kitty litter center (it's a Lucky Champ system),

and the laundry.

But he has plenty of options for snoozing and has two windows.

Humans are welcome anytime!

Fu and Yu: The Block

Yukon is large and in charge not letting Snafu leave his room by sitting in the doorway.

A classic example of blocking. 

At the beginning of the video Snafu is appealing to me for help (which I do quite often), but I'm busy doing other things (like videoing the whole scenario!).

I love the 'I'm not looking at you' head turns.

Look for when Yukon decides to let Snafu out, and his little "hop" turn. It's like he's saying "Yeah, that's good enough. My work is done here."

Garden Plus Fire

Thursday in the garden at Marshwood Cottage

All veggies are doing well. After this photo I put down some mulch material to help keep weeds down.

But the real story at Marshwood Cottage is our new FIRE PIT!

DP dug the pit out about eight inches deep.

Rocks gathered from around the property line the interior.

Done!

Cat Shelves? We Got 'em!

Since Marshwood Cottage is, well, a cottage, it is quaintly small and feline real estate comes at a premium. DP, being very creative and handy with a screwdriver and level, took advantage of the vertical interior landscape and built several cat shelves.

These are located in our den and required an alternate escape route.

These shelves are directly above my workstation to try to curb cat crossings directly on my laptop...still working on that.

The highest shelf on each set is a bed and a coveted spot indeed, especially for lording it over your enemies.

...or just relaxing in relative safety.

They are a great spot for snoopervizing the Mama.

But there can be traffic jams to contend with.

Yukon enjoys just hanging out with a friend!
