The International Cat Show
This took place right in Augusta, Maine!
I thought I'd check it out.
Many rows of beautifully coifed cats in soft plastic crates.
I'm sure there is a fancy word for these little condo type units, but I don't know what that is. Some of them had more than one "room" with hammocks or a 2nd floor.
There were lots of Siamese, Maine Coons, Persians, Siberians and Bengal cats.
These lovelies were in a mixed breed competition, waiting their turn. There were several rings with judges.
Here is one judge (from Argentina) petting, playing with, talking to and "checking out" one floofy competitor.
Here is another competitor who was a "Smoke Maine Coon." I stood next to his human who breeds Maine Coons (yes, she was from Maine). She told me she'd been hoping for years to get a kitty with this coloring.
For some reason, Smokey (my name for him) was disqualified.
I still thought he was stunning.
After a few more rounds of judging and a couple walks up and down the "Isles of Kitties," I bought some toys and headed back home...
...to our own Clan of Champions!
Nick loved the new toys.

Momma went to exactly one cat show years ago in Florida. After walking around for hours and observing, she felt relieved to know that she was not as a crazy a cat lady as she once thought!
ReplyDeleteThose are some majorly nice carriers!!! Wow!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are the real champions!
Sounds like a fun time!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of floof for one place!
I thought Smokey was beautiful too!
ReplyDeleteCat shows are fun! And they sell the best toys there!
ReplyDeleteSo many pretty kitties!
ReplyDeleteYep our kitties are red ribbon winners 365 years a day!!! Wonder why the Maine Coon was disqualified?
ReplyDeleteMadi and Mom
What fun! I went to a show here in town oh, back in February (?) and it was great. Got several toys for the gang, took lots of snapshots of the cats, mostly the house cats being judged. Lots of Maine Coons and Ragdolls and Himmies there too, Bengals, Cornish Rex and so on. It was a cat lovers paradise. LOL. :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good time.
ReplyDeletei have always wanted to go to a cat show myself.
I have been to a few cat shows too. They are always fun. Our cats are just as beautiful though, aren't they. Have a purr-fect day. Deb
ReplyDeleteCat shows are interesting. Those Maine Coon cats are gorgeous!
ReplyDeletei have always wanted to be in a glamorous kitteh show! my mommeh says i can't though, because i am declawed and i have the big bump on my tail from when it was broked.
ReplyDeleteOur mama went to one cat show many years ago, and of course she fell in love with each kitty she saw.....but she couldn't pet them, so that spoiled the whole show for her. She vowed never to go to another show because she couldn't pet them!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, the best "show cats" are still the ones at home! We show them on our blogs every day, and that's the best way to do it, in my humble opinion.
ReplyDeleteDante could have been a show cat, but no cages for him! He gets plenty of exposure on the internet, and is very happy at the same time.
Your Angus is a spectacularly handsome kitty as well. I'm sure he beats all those show kitties paws down!
Sorry, I got Angus mixed up with Nick! They're both major hunks of cat!
ReplyDeleteSmokey is a gorgeous cat...It looks like you had a nice time; we think your babies are the champions too!...xo...Calle, Halle, Sukki
ReplyDeleteOf course your kitties are champions!
ReplyDeleteThey're gorgeous and why on earth was the lovely Smokey disqualified?
Oh well - glad you had a great time, thanks for sharing!
Take care
x
We love when our mom goes to those cat shows! She always brings us back some cool toys you can't buy in the regular pet stores.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great time at the show, but we agre that nothing is better than returning to your own champs. :)
ReplyDeleteOur mom's never been to a cat show before. Looks like fun! We are happy to see you liked your new toys!
ReplyDeleteAwww Nick, you could have been a contender!
ReplyDeleteWe think Smokey is absolutely stunning. We are glad that Nick loved the new toys :).
ReplyDeleteWow that looks like it was very interesting - Smokey was a pretty guy. Too bad he was disqualified!
ReplyDeleteAnd we agree that the best kitties are the ones at home - and all of yours are adorable in our book!
That looked like fun! Our mom has gone to cat shows in the past. She liked seeing all the different breeds.
ReplyDeleteWe thought we wanted a judge of our own when we read about him petting and playing with and talking all those cats. But that was before we realised picking up was involved. Never mind, we will stick with Photoguy.
ReplyDeleteA few years back we went to one of those shows, hoping to talk to some of the "people". I hope that our experience was not like yours, because no one would talk with us, and they acted really indignant if you tried to talk to their cats. We were glad to come home to our "common" house cats who are true champions to us!
ReplyDeleteMomma I should've gone wif yoo, I'd have given dem hoomans a gud hissy!

We thought Smokey looked lovely. It must have been interesting to see all the different kitties.
ReplyDeleteWent to a few cats show - it was fun to see all the types of cats and the toys and stuff vendors have. Hated that we were not allowed to touch or interact with the cats. One show had a house cat division which was fun and had lots of contestants.
ReplyDeleteMom usually goes to the cat show every year in SC in February. They didn't come this year and she was so upset.
